Bonjour!
Air Mauritius takes
its Corporate Social responsibility very seriously, and as such has been
running an initiative called One
take-off, one tree for the past couple of years. Under this initiative in
2010, 9 408 plants were planted and propagated, out of which 3 408 trees were
planted in Mauritius and 6 000 propagated in Rodrigues island.
In 2010, which was the
International Year of Biodiversity, the United Nations Secretariat of the
Convention on Biological Diversity coordinated a global campaign “The Green
Wave”. The campaign was a global outreach and awareness programme designed to educate
a new generation of environmental champions about the importance of
biodiversity and the consequences of its loss.
On 22 May 2010, which
was World Biodiversity Day, Air Mauritius staff together with the Mauritian
Wildlife Foundation staff of Rodrigues, Airport of Rodrigues Ltd, volunteers of
Marechal College and Port Sud Est Village participated in the Green Wave
initiative. Over 100 endemic and native plants were planted on this special day
at Anse Quitor Nature Reserve.
In Mauritius,
employees of Air Mauritius together with school children and the Mauritian
Wildlife Foundation planted trees on Ile aux Aigrettes island.
At Air Mauritius, we
care about the environment and strive to continuously find new ways to improve
our impact on it, and reduce our carbon footprint.
